The Eagles are known around the World for their fresh Californian classic rock. Their music is a perfect infusion of rock and country which dominated the radio and millions of people all over the world. The fans embraced their music, their live shows became the main attraction of the arenas and their alluring personalities ruled the music press. Their career was at the summit in the 1970s. The Eagles formed their band in Los Angeles in the early 1970s. Their band featured Los-Angeles based musicians Randy Meisner, Bernie Leadon, Don Henley and Glen Frey. In 1971, Frey and Henley joined Linda Ronstadt's backup band. Even Meisner and Leadon also played backup to Ronstadt. In 1972, this quartet of musicians signed music tycoon David Geffen's Asylum Records and released their self-titled debut album. Their debut album included two Top 10 hits “Take It Easy" and "Witchy Woman" and one Top 20 hit, "Peaceful Easy Feeling." The group’s second album was Desperado in 1973. It was a concept album about outlaws and reached the Top 40 and went gold in a little less than a year and a half. The title track of the album never released as a single but became one of their most celebrated songs.

The band showed a propensity to record a harder rock but their desires soon crashed since their producer wanted them to record a country-rock. The band segregated themselves from the producer after recording two tracks, "You Never Cry Like a Lover" and "The Best of My Love." In 1974, Don Felder was recruited to join the group. The band recorded “On the Border” with the producer Bill Szymczyk. It became a super hit and reached the Top Ten. The album’s first single "Already Gone," reached the Top 20. But their most song on the disc that gave them fame was "The Best of My Love." In 1975, it topped the easy listening charts and pop charts. The same year Bernie Leadon resigned from the band. His resignation brought in Joe Walsh. One of These Nights was the Eagle’s fourth cut. It went gold the same month it was released and hit the Top Five. The album featured Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group, or Chorus, "Lyin' Eyes." The Eagles also garnered Grammy nominations for Album of the Year and Record of the Year. The Eagles “Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975)” was a collection of their hit songs. It topped the charts and became an unparallel success. It became the best-selling album of all time in the U.S.

in December 1976, the Eagles fifth album Hotel California released. The singles "New Kid in Town" and "Hotel California" hit number one, and "Life in the Fast Lane" reached the Top 20. The 10-time platinum Hotel California won the 1977 Grammy for Record of the Year. By the end of the season, Timothy B. Schmit replaced Randy Meisner. In 1979, the Eagles released “The Long Run.” The album took nearly a year and a half to complete. The album fetched the multi-platinum certifications. The album featured "Heartache Tonight", "I Can't Tell You Why" and "The Long Run" became Top Ten hits. "Heartache Tonight" won the 1979 Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

The band became dormant after the 1980 season. They all started releasing their solo albums but didn’t officially announce their split until May 1982. They even declined the lucrative offers to reunite. However in 1994, they reunited in an MTV concert special. The audio version of the album viz. “Hell Freezes Over” topped the charts and became a multi-million seller. The album featured "Get Over It," along with an Adult Contemporary hit, "Love Will Keep Us Alive." In 1998, the Eagles became the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. The five members were joined by Leadon and Meisner for a live performance. The group's most recent release is The Eagles: Selected Works 1972-1999.
